If you’re coming home for a furlough, a short-term health insurance plan is an ideal solution to get the health insurance you’ll need at an affordable price.
If you’re a long-term missionary serving overseas, or if you’re a sponsoring church or agency, you’ll want to think through having insurance coverage for your trips home, or for your transition off the field. Some international health plans include coverage inside the United States and Canada, but some do not.
The Best Solution for Health Insurance on Furlough
The good news is that you can purchase an inexpensive short-term health insurance plan to provide coverage for you and your family on your stateside trips.
These policies provide solid major-medical (catastrophic) insurance protection with access to a broad nationwide network of medical providers and doctors.
Our preferred short-term health insurance plan even provides a $50 copay benefit at an urgent care facility (note: this is not a hospital emergency room, which is covered by the deductible only).
Because these policies are of limited duration (typically 1-11 months), they are much more affordable than regular American health insurance plans and have limited underwriting requirements.
An Important Note: The link above will allow you to enroll for coverage in certain states. These include, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky. If you will primarily be residing in a different state during your stay, we may be able to help you too. Contact us so we can talk about it!
By the way… these plans are a great fit for anybody, missionary or not, who is in a period of transition and needs temporary health insurance coverage!
