One of the most important benefits of a good missionary insurance plan is medical evacuation coverage. But what exactly is it?
Imagine that you’re traveling in another country and find yourself in a life-threatening medical situation. What if you’re in a region or country that lacks the health care capabilities to handle your medical needs?
Emergency Medical Evacuation coverage will cover the expenses to transport you to the nearest medical facility qualified to treat your life-threatening medical condition. Many plans (including the HCC Atlas plan most of our clients purchase) also include a benefit for Emergency Reunion.
The Emergency Reunion coverage will make sure you have a loved one by your side should you find yourself in this situation. It covers the cost of transportation, lodging, meals, and related expenses to have a relative join you.
Of course we certainly hope you never need emergency medical evacuation coverage! But given how little travel insurance plans actually cost, it makes no sense to travel without it.
