Think of it as a frequent traveler discount. If you take multiple trips abroad each year, there’s a more economical and flexible approach to travel insurance than buying a separate plan for each trip.
Instead, you can purchase one multiple-trip policy that will cover you for the whole year regardless of how many trips you take abroad (provided these trips are less than 30 days in duration). In addition, you must have major medical health insurance coverage in your home country.
An annual multi-trip insurance plan is a great fit for a pastor, missions leader, or executive who expects to take more than two trips in a calendar year. (Generally speaking, two trips is the break-even point for this plan when compared with purchasing a travel insurance plan for each trip). Not only will you save money, but you’ll have greater flexibility if your travel plans change because you won’t have to set particular dates for coverage
What Does a Multi-Trip Plan Cover?
The coverage is essentially the same as that of a typical travel insurance plan.
So you’ll have coverage for medical needs, evacuation (medical, political), repatriation of remains, emergency medical reunion, etc. There are also benefits related to lost travel documents (i.e. passports), trip interruption, and a modest lost luggage benefit. You can find a more detailed description of the multi-trip insurance plan here.
