When you purchase travel insurance for your mission trip, you know you’re going to get medical coverage. But what about life insurance? After all, we live in uncertain times.
Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage (AD&D)
Your mission trip insurance plan comes with AD&D coverage. With this coverage, adults age 18-69 have $50,000 in coverage for accidental death or loss of two limbs, and $25,000 in coverage for loss of one limb. There are lesser benefit amounts for children and for travelers age 70 and older. Note: There is a death benefit for common carrier accident (i.e. your commercial plane crashes), but not dismemberment.
Isn’t this grisly stuff?
Repatriation of Remains
If you were to die while on your mission trip, the plan would pay for the cost of returning your body home up to the policy maximum (whatever you select). While this is obviously terrible to think about, this benefit can save your family thousands of dollars should the unthinkable happen.
The Bottom Line
So while life insurance is not included in a missionary travel insurance plan, AD&D and repatriation of remains are very important components of the policy that come standard every time. These are included in both individual missionary insurance plans and group mission trip insurance plans. We sure hope you don’t need them, but it’s important to have that covered.
